ExpertiseLab is found by Dr. Heping Hao. Its mission is to use information technology to explore the developmental process and path from novice to expert in various domains. Specifically, it uses knowledge automation expert system developmental tool to build up various types of system to simulate novice and expert's reasoning, identify significant change in domains and build up theoretical models to indicate the change. It also approaches how the development of expert system could results in deep understanding subject matter. ExpertiseLab’s work is guided by David Henry Feldman’s Nonuniversal theory and Robert J. Sternberg’s theory and others in the field of researches in novice and expert. College students are trained to use knowledge automation developmental tool to build various expert systems, working with domain professionals, experts. Those applications, with their knowledge trees, facts and rules in the domains are analyzed by researches. The studies provide various advices to educators, students, designers of intelligence tutoring system and expert system in various domains
